"Silhouette" (2009) is the result of a year of composing and arranging. Original compositions comprise almost half the album, while the other half features tunes not usually performed on the guitar, with two highlights being Waltz for Debby (a piano piece arranged for guitar from the original recording by Bill Evans) and Delicado (a popular choro piece, imbued in this guitar arrangement with a decidedly Spanish flavor). Although the theme is dark, "Silhouette" ends on an optimistic note; the somber rondeña segues into an up-tempo bulerias, echoing the first tune. |
